Our Philosophy Aiken Village Preschool has an age-appropriate child-oriented curriculum. Through play, children learn by doing, acquiring a positive self-image, social skills, and physical coordination. At Aiken Village Preschool, the play environment provides many opportunities for exploring, manipulating, and engaging in a world of activities while encouraging self-confidence, self-discipline, and independence. Our Curriculum The curriculum at Aiken Village Preschool is based on The Creative Curriculum for Preschool and All About Preschoolers, An Environment-Based Curriculum. Curriculum design complies with the Mississippi Early Learning Guidelines and the Head Start Child Outcomes Framework. The preschool holds the prestigious accreditation of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is licensed by the Mississippi Department of Health, and holds a 5-Star (out of 5) rating by the Mississippi Child Care Quality Step System. Our Staff Teachers at Aiken Village Preschool hold bachelor’s degrees in early childhood education or related fields and are committed to providing age-appropriate learning experiences in an accepting, warm environment. Our low child-to-adult ratio enhances the learning environment while providing opportunities for independent exploration. Carol Jones, M.S., is the director of Aiken Village Preschool.
